About IB Chemistry HL

At Oakridge, chemistry is one of the three HL courses that students take as part of the IB program. This course provides a deep and rigorous exploration of the principles that govern matter and its interactions. You study topics such as atomic structure, chemical bonding, energetics, kinetics, equilibrium, and organic chemistry, with a strong emphasis on both theoretical understanding and practical application. Through extensive lab work and investigations, you develop advanced skills in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific communication. Chemistry HL prepares you for further study in science-related fields by strengthening your ability to think critically, solve complex problems, and connect chemical concepts to real-world challenges.
