Overview

What is TOK?

At Oakridge, Theory of Knowledge (TOK) is a core component of the IB program that challenges you to reflect on the nature of knowledge and how we claim to know what we know. In this course, you explore different ways of knowing—such as language, reason, emotion, and perception—and examine how they operate across various areas of knowledge like the natural sciences, history, the arts, and ethics. Through discussion, debate, and critical analysis, you learn to question assumptions, evaluate evidence, and consider multiple perspectives. TOK encourages intellectual curiosity and open-mindedness, helping you become a more thoughtful, reflective learner both in and beyond the classroom.
